City of York Council manages the Shambles Market (7 day a week, outdoor market) and the York Christmas Market. They also have a monthly Farmers Market run by http://www.yorkshirefarmersmarkets.co.uk .
Here in City of York Council’s response to our Freedom of Information request:
Q: Do you allow stall holders at your markets to sell real fur? (including small items such as knitted hats with fur bobbles, or key rings with fur trims etc.
A: We advise against selling/displaying if such a product should be proposed to us. Happy to have some policy documents/guidelines sent to us.
However, we have received no evidence of any official policy documents or guidelines to enforce this. The Council have been sent a Fur Free Markets policy and contract to sign and adopt, with no response so far.
Please urge the Council to adopt an official Fur Free Markets policy by emailing to info@makeityork.com.
