South Somerset District Council has the following markets: Yeovil Town on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. It is operated on the Councils behalf by MSD Markets Ltd.
Here is the Council’s response to our Freedom of Information request:
Q: Do you allow stall holders at your markets to sell real fur? (including small items such as knitted hats with fur bobbles, or key rings with fur trims etc.
A: we would not accept anyone onto the market selling real fur and we would ask questions about the seller’s commodities before accepting them.
However, we are unaware of any official policy documents or guidelines to enforce this. We have written to MSD Markets to ask for more information.
Please urge the Council to adopt the official Fur Free Markets policy by contacting Councillor Val Keitch, Leader of the Council, email: val.keitch@southsomerset.gov.uk
