Taunton Deane Borough Council has the following markets: the council does not directly own or manage markets, but a street trading consent has been issued to the Council’s Business Development department who in turn allow street trading and event organisers to run markets, fairs, festivals in Taunton town centre throughout the year.
Here is the Council’s response to our Freedom of Information request:
Q: Do you allow stall holders at your markets to sell real fur? (including small items such as knitted hats with fur bobbles, or key rings with fur trims etc.
A: No.
However, we are unaware of any official policy documents or guidelines to enforce this.
Please urge the Council to adopt the official Fur Free Markets policy by contacting Councillor Patrick Berry, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services and Climate Change, email: cllr.p.berry@tauntondeane.gov.uk or Councillor Kelly Durdan, Licensing Committee, email: cllr.k.durdan@tauntondeane.gov.uk
